There is an automatic fire extinguishing system in
the engine room. This CO2 system consists of a tank and manual releases,
and plumbing and automatic releases in the engine room. Only the
engine room is covered by this system. The manual releases are located
in the lazarette on the bottle itself and in the guest quarters
passage way, above and to the left of the forward engine room door.
If the system is activated it will automatically shut down the main
engine and the engine room fan. The shutdown switch is located on
the overhead above the black water pump, engine room starboard aft
corner. Press it in to reset or pull it out to test. AFTER ACTIVATING
THE ENGINE ROOM EXTINGUISHING SYSTEM, CLOSE ALL THREE E.R. AIR INTAKES
ON THE MAIN DECK. THE COVERS ARE LOCATED IN THE STERN STORAGE CABINET.
