The big city of Papeete with a population of 100,000 people, was a dramatic change from the small and quiet places we had been traveling. Don and I en;joyed the excitement and energy of the urban environment. Many of our friends on other boats were here for Hieva, the big festival of the SocietyIslands, which celebrates Polynesian culture. |
